4 Browsers for your Web Design Tasks
In this video we’ll talk about some browsers you may download and install. We’ll talk of the browsers you already know about. As a Web Designer you will need to have different browsers on your machine.
All browsers are essentially free, hence you can download as many as you want. We’ll talk about the five common ones that are universally used and known by all.
You will only encounter the common browsers in this post. For a very long list, and even historical browsers , check out this Wikipedia article.
The browsers we’ll talk of and you may need to install are:
- Chrome
- Firefox
- Internet Explorer / Edge
- Opera
- Safari
Chrome
Google Chrome is an excellent Web browser. It supports good web standards, has a good user interface, it is fast and feature-rich. Chrome is generally secure to use. You should definitely install it if you haven’t yet.
Chrome has a vast library of extensions both for developers and the common user. And before I forget, chrome is cross-platform, it supports Linux, Mac and Windows. It also has Mobile App versions for android and iOS .

Firefox
Firefox is an amazing browser. It is still my browser of choice. Firefox supports Windows, Mac and Linux.

Internet Explorer / Edge
In windows 8.1 and below Internet explorer (IE) comes by default. In windows 10 Edge comes by default. So you don’t need to download anything here.
For developers, Edge is a moderately loved browser, IE not so much. Edge is a modern browser.
Safari
Apple Safari is the official Mac browser.
Safari browser comes by default on Mac computers.
Opera
Opera is the browser with a Built-in ad blocker, VPN, and battery saver. It has a Fast performance. It also has a Turbo mode which speeds up slow internet connections and reduces data usage. Opera also has Gestures for easy navigation.

Feel free to download the browsers and install them. All these browsers have something similar to Developer Tools which will be instrumental for debugging and Testing purposes during design and development.
