Do you ever feel that most things are just silly? Then you are probably like me.
A lot of people make too many plans. Then on their deathbed they’ll probably be remorseful, resentful and utterly regretful. Oh I didn’t do this. Oh I never got to try this. Oh no I never went there. Oh I wish I had more time.
When it’s too late, it most probably is. Don’t waste your time wondering about the what ifs. Let the things you did, put a smile on your face one last time.
Are we immortal?
Of course we are not. What kind of silly question is that?
Here is the truth no one has ever told us : We are all going to die someday. And no one has told us this because probably no one is sure. Dear Sheldon Cooper, if you are reading this, I’m being sarcastic. Ok?
But at least now we know the truth.
Knowing this is not as important as accepting and acknowledging it. Accept it. Embrace it. Then live with it.
We are not immortal, one day our day will be up. What sensible self-meaningful things would you say you did?
Do you understand happiness
Do you know exactly what being happy entails. I don’t know about you. I’m kind of a boring personality. Mostly tilted towards the robotic edge of the human scale.
I love music but I wouldn’t fancy going to any music concert. I love comedies, but I’d rather watch them on my own. I find most universally accepted adult fun, to be idiosyncratic.
That’s a part of me that I’ve come to accept.
Even so, I know the things that make me happy. And those are the activities I want to do consistently. You know like, lying on the floor just listening to trance melodies. Oh, just the thought of it gets me excited. It gives me goosebumps.
What makes you happy. Do it.
They say when you are happy, everyone around you is happy. That’s not necessarily true. What matters is this, are you fulfilled as a person? Is your happiness getting in the way of others? I believe to be happy you must be selfish. But not too self-centered.
Remember, you are still in the universe. Play nice with the other inhabitants.
A bucket list?
A bucketlist for what, I’m not in a movie. Don’t waste your time with bucket lists, create goals.
Things like, I want to build a business that does X for Y people. I want to live in country x and experience the culture. I don’t know, you think of something.
Bucket lists just seem like a waste of time. If you don’t do most of them you are a failure. That’s what you’ll tell yourself. On the other hand if you don’t reach some goal, it probably was too dumb or too far fetched.
Nowadays I prefer to write short articles. Something you can read fast till the end.
In conclusion, know the things you want to do. Start doing them. If you don’t do or achieve some of them. Who cares. Live your life like the only opinion that counts is yours. To hell with the bucket-list. On your deathbed, to hell with the things you didn’t do. Concentrate your thoughts on the things you are proud you did.
